How it works

For rectangular areas, volume is length × width × depth. The calculator converts every measurement to feet first, finds cubic feet, then divides by 27 because one cubic yard contains 27 cubic feet. For circular areas it uses π × radius² × depth.

Planning an order

Real projects rarely match the theoretical volume exactly. Uneven ground, compaction, spillage and grading can increase the amount required. Use the optional extra allowance when you want a buffer before ordering material.
